Macchia dei briganti: wines of Avellino
Macchia dei briganti is the trademark of the wine we produce in our vineyards located in the hills between the towns of Lapio and Montefalcione, in Italy. Both of which have gained the esteemed recognition DOCG (Denominazione di Origine Controllata e Garantita - Controlled and Guaranteed Designation of Origin is a quality assurance label for Italian food products, especially Italian wine) for the the vine "Aglianico" from which the renowned Taurasi wine is made, and the vine "Fiano" from which we get the famous Fiano di Avellino.
Rosato doc Irpinia rosé
Our company Macchia dei briganti is a small family-run winery with artisan characteristics, where we personally oversee all stages of production. Starting from the winter pruning of the vineyard, then continuing with the green pruning, which is carried out in spring-summer, with the aim of reducing the load of grapes from the vines, to yield better quality of harvest both in the aspect of aroma as well as sweetness. Moreover, carefully following the climatic trend of the season we can minimize the number of plant protection treatments, thus obtaining a better quality of product.
We continue to carefully treat the grapes in the field until harvest in early November, when the grapes have reached the peak of their ripeness. We take care during vinification, aging and bottling, respecting the rules and analytical controls to guarantee a genuine and pure handcrafted wine.
Fiano di Avellino DOCG - Areal Lapio
Our winery was founded in 2012 and started producing wines under the brand Macchia dei briganti, in order to fuel our passion for good wine and to convey our love for this region. With this purpose were created our products "Fiano di Avellino DOCG", "Campi Taurasini DOC Irpinia", "Rosato DOC Irpinia" and "Aglianico IGT Campania", fine Avellino wines with typical Irpinia characteristics.
All this we get from a generous land, with a distinctive clay soil, the right sun exposure, an altitude of 600 meters from sea level and an ideal microclimate, which allows us to produce the best quality grapes from which you get an excellent wine, one of the best wines of Avellino.
Our brand "Macchia dei briganti" comes from an ancient history of banditry around the '"Appia Antica", the old caravan route linking Puglia and Campania.
