Fiano di Avellino DOCG, White Wines of Irpinia (Avellino) Italy.
Fiano di Avellino DOCG, is a renown wine from the Irpinia region, produced only with white grapes from the Fiano di Avellino vine, grown in the area of Lapio, the homeland of Fiano di Avellino DOCG. It is one of the finest wines of Avellino and famous throughout the world.
The Fiano di Avellino DOCG white wine is produced in Irpinia by Macchia dei briganti, between the Lapio and Montefalcione towns, in the province of Avellino, an area prominent for winemaking and for such fine wines as Aglianico of Taurasi and of course Fiano di Avellino DOCG.
Our Fiano di Avellino DOCG wine is produced exclusively from grapes grown on the beautiful green hills of Irpinia, which encompasses the municipalities of:
Avellino, Lapio, Atripalda, Cesinali, Aiello del Sabato, S. Stefano del Sole, Sorbo Serpico, Salza Irpina, Parolise, S. Potito Ultra, Candida, Manocalzati, Pratola Serra, Montefredane, Grottolella, Capriglia Irpina, Sant'Angelo a Scala , Summonte, Mercogliano, Forino, Contrada, Monteforte Irpino, Ospedaletto D'Alpinolo, Montefalcione, Santa Lucia and San Michele di Serino, Serino.
The Romans loved the wine produced in this piece of land crossed by the old "Appian" crucial caravan route linking Puglia and Campania. The grapes stemming from the vine Fiano di Avellino are particularly sweet and attract swarms of bees which is why the Romans named the wine "Apianum".
